#8 Sunday. The Rialto

Welcome back, snippeteers! I'm gearing up for the release of my latest romantic comedy, Searching for Superman. The book's heroine, Stephanie, works in an old theater called the Rialto.
This week, I'd like to share the reader's introduction to Stephanie's workplace

She was Conrad Finch’s assistant and her job consisted of answering phones and e-mail, sorting the bills, and bringing Conrad soy vanilla lattes from Starbucks like the one she was trying not to spill as she walked.
That is not to say that Stephanie didn’t love the Rialto. It was the oldest theater in the Capitol district, though like the rest of the city of Schenectady, it was struggling to make a comeback. Conrad Finch was nothing if not passionate about making this happen and Stephanie was proud he’d chosen her to help him. Conrad had a strong vision of someday, when the theater would attract name acts and Broadway road revivals. They would host a regional theater group and maybe they would even show the Metropolitan Opera live on screen as they had in a similar theater in New England last year.
Stephanie could almost see it. Though today, with the cold March wind sweeping stray paper to the curb in front of the marquee, the place looked downright shabby, like a garish old woman who had insisted on one too many face lifts.

Searching for Superman releases on June 3. For more on the book, click HERE

#8Sunday: Superman has a cover!

I've had a very exciting week! First off, I finished the draft of To the Wind. It's an early draft, but it's nice to have something done. And, second but not least, I got a cover for my new romantic comedy, Searching for Superman:

New cover art is always a big moment for me and to celebrate, I thought I'd do a snippet from the opening of book.

If the perfect man existed, why did he keep eluding her?   Stephanie Holbrook felt a yearning for romance ashe watched the couple tucked into the corner of the Starbucks in which she and her sister Liz sat with their coffee. The couple had their heads together, his knee touching against hers, the man dipping his finger into the foam of his drink and holding it out so the woman could lick it off. They might as well have held a sign that said, ‘We’re crazy about each other.’
“You haven’t heard three words I’ve said.” Liz brought Stephanie back from her reverie while rocking Max’s stroller with her foot.
Stephanie smiled at her sister. “Sure I have-- Sophie’s birthday party.”

Searching for Superman comes out on June 3

Cover Reveal: Searching for Superman

Getting cover art is a little like unwrapping a Christmas present. And, as is always the case with Champagne Books, this one is exactly what I wanted.
So, tada, here is  the newly unwrapped cover for my brand new Romantic Comedy, Searching for Superman done by the very talented Trish FitzGerald:

Here's a bit about the story:
Stephanie Holbrook has finally found a job she really loves: working as an assistant to Conrad Finch in a small regional theater that’s about three dollars and a power outage from being torn down.  Stephanie wishes her love life would be as perfect as her job. She’ll be thirty on her next birthday and she still hasn’t found Mr. Right.  According to Stephanie, Mr. Right has to be strong and brave, with great values and good looks. A guy a lot like Superman.

When Doug Castleberry shows up at her niece’s birthday party dressed as Superman, Stephanie is positive he’s not the real deal. Sure, he’s great with kids and he’s kind of cute.   But he’s just a high school teacher making extra money by dressing up for kid’s parties. Hardly the strong, brave, and drop-dead gorgeous guy she’s looking for.

As the theater teeters ever closer to the edge of disaster, Doug proves to be a better man than Stephanie had ever imagined. Could he be the Superman she’s been looking for all along?

The book will be released on June 3.

Introducing....Superman!!

Okay, I know you don't need to be introduced to Superman. You know who Superman is. This is just my way of sharing the news.
I have a brand new romantic comedy coming out next year!

It's called Searching for Superman
Here's what it's about:

Stephanie Holbrook has finally found a job she really loves: working as an assistant to Conrad Finch in a small regional theater that’s about  three dollars and a power outage from being torn down.  Stephanie wishes her love life would be as perfect as her job. She’ll be thirty on her next birthday and she still hasn’t found Mr. Right.  According to Stephanie, Mr. Right has to be strong and brave, with great values and good looks. A guy a lot like Superman.

Searching for Superman is coming to Champagne Books in June of 2013. I know, I know, it's a while to wait. You'll just have to be patient. Put it on your TBR list and, if your list is long as mine, it'll be at the top of the list right around the  time it comes out!
This is not the Rialto theater from the book. It's the wonderful and fully restored Palace Theater in Manchester, NH.
PS If you'd like something to read in the meantime, my romantic comedy The P-Town Queen is downloadable at most online bookstores!
